How MeL works

Queues

Queues are the matchmaking system that pairs you with other solo players. Join a queue, wait for it to fill, and compete for MeL Queue points. The community might know it best as “8s”.
01
Queue types

Solo in, balanced teams out

Player queue
Individual players queue up for matchmaking. The system automatically matches players who also join the queue.
02
Features

What happens in a queue

Fast matchmaking
Watch the queue fill in real time. You won't see who joins — just that someone did.
Balanced or captains
Matches are balanced on Queue points, or players can vote to pick teams with two captains chosen by the system.
Queue timer
Quick matching finds opponents at your skill level in seconds.
Competitive play
Every queue match counts toward your Queue points, and players can give you reputation after the match.
03
How it works

Five steps to a match

01
Select your game
Choose from the available games in the Play tab.
02
Pick a queue
Pick any queue you find interesting or qualify for.
03
Join the queue
Tap Join Queue and wait for it to fill. A match is created when it does.
04

You'll be notified and taken to the match lobby.
05
Play and report
Complete your match, report the result, and earn Queue points.
04
Tips

Before you join

Queues fill faster during peak hours — evenings and weekends.
Make sure you're ready to play before joining.
You can leave a queue at any time without penalty if no match has been found.
Not playing a match after being matched, or not reporting the result, earns a timeout.
05
Rewards

What you get from queues

Queue points
